The second Sunday of Advent

The second Sunday of Advent is traditionally one of repentance, in which we meet John the Baptist preparing the way for the coming Lord. To make space for the light the Advent Prophet asks for all people to cast out that which doesn't justly serve others and to turn toward God. This second Sunday also addresses inheritance and the family of God.

Below Carolyn Puccio, CSJ, provides us with a second week of Advent prayer and reflection. While you go about your day today, we encourage you to reflect on these questions and ready yourself for the coming Light:

What is poisonous to your faith?

What changes in your life are you proudest of making?

What characterizes the Christianity you inherit in your family?

Stir within us, O God of justice,

a sincere desire to prepare your way, and make straight your path,

by bringing to every circumstance and setting,

your justice, gentleness, and peace.

We ask this in the name of the one who is to come;

your Son, Emmanuel, who is One with you the Holy Spirit,

now and forever.

The St. Paul Province invites you to attend this evening's Vespers service at Our Lady of the Presentation (1880 Randolph Ave., St. Paul, MN) at 4:30pm, all are welcome.
