The ministries of the Sisters of St. Joseph make a difference in people's lives.
Jerry, a self-employed carpenter and remodeler told us how he was diagnosed with colon cancer not long after his wife was laid off from her job in 2009.

Fortunately, Jerry called St. Mary’s Health Clinics, and he received the surgery and cancer treatments he needed – all at no cost to him.
Today Jerry tells us that he finished the final chemotherapy treatments for the cancer two months ago. He recently had a colonoscopy, which found no traces of cancer. His oncologist told him he has only a 10 percent chance of the cancer recurring.
Jerry is back at work remodeling houses. He wants us all to know, “I cannot tell you how thankful I am to St. Mary’s Health Clinics.” | Alice, a bright and energetic woman from China, has much to say about her experience with Learning in Style, the Sisters' English Language Learning school.

My name is Alice. I’m from China. My family moved to New York when I was 19. We lived in Chinatown. There wasn’t a need for English in New York, but without English I felt trapped in Chinatown. When I had the opportunity to come to Minnesota I seized it because I knew I would be able to go to school. It was my turn.
When I first started attending Learning In Style, I didn’t have the skills or confidence to speak English and barely opened my mouth. I didn’t know how to use a computer or type. Learning English feels like I got to open the door I was trapped behind and go out into the world. I still feel my life expanding. |

I am very, very thankful to be a part of this school. I begged Sister Agnes to let me volunteer at the school. Everything started from here, and I wanted to give back. Now, I take every Friday morning off from work to help support the school.
Every day I thank all the angels – the teachers, the volunteers, the donors, the Sisters of St. Joseph – that make this school possible. You can count on me to pay it forward. |
